I came to college because I wanted to learn more about the makeup industry and to become better at it.
I’ve always been interested in makeup. I like how it’s all different and you can be creative with it and make it your own.
The course is really enjoyable. I love learning new things and getting new ideas from all of my friends, we always come up with new ideas together. We have to do primary and secondary research and we share notes with each other.
The best thing about Bracknell and Wokingham College is that it’s a friendly place to be.
College is different from school because you get a lot more independence. You get a lot more freedom and you are treated like an adult.
The teachers always give us guidance and make sure that we understand what we’re doing. If it’s wrong, they’ll say why instead of just saying it’s wrong. When we do tests and assessments, they’ll mark them straight away and we always get feedback to make sure we’re on the right track.
Outside of college, I’ve done some workshops with Pinewood Studios.
I’ve had a tour and some interviews with them. There’s a 30-week course offered there, equivalent to university. You get to choose a path and they’ll put you straight on set as soon as you’re done. You cover a bit of everything and I’m excited to go and work on the prosthetics at the massive theatre.
In the summer, I’m going to do a weekend trial with them just to make sure it’s where I want to go after college. But for next year, I’m going to go to Reading College to continue Media Makeup at Level 3.
I think that college has definitely prepared me for the future.
You are given so many opportunities and the teachers help guide you to choose what path you want to go down.
College is more grown-up; I have a lot more freedom and it’s a nice environment. I’ve become more independent, more sure of myself and less nervous about the outside world.
