Safeguarding is about creating safe, supportive and respectful learning environments where you can thrive.
We know life can be tough sometimes—exam stress, friendship or family issues, or mental health struggles. No matter what you're going through, you’re not alone. Our Student Support and Safeguarding teams are here to help you so you can focus on your future with confidence.
Safe Students: Our Safeguarding team
Our team is here to help with a wide range of concerns, including:
Feeling unsafe – at college, home, online or in the local area. |
Bullying, harassment, or discrimination – including online abuse or threats. |
Abuse or neglect – physical, emotional, sexual or financial abuse. |
Mental health struggles – self-harm or feeling suicidal. |
Relationship difficulties – unhealthy friendships, controlling relationships or family problems. |
Exploitation – someone is pressuring you into doing things you don’t want to, criminal activity or inappropriate relationships. |
Substance misuse or addiction – drugs, alcohol or harmful behaviours. |
Housing worries – homelessness or unsafe places to stay. |
Extremism and radicalisation – extremist views or groups. |
So-called ‘honour’-based abuse - such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) or Forced Marriage. |
Sharing of nude or sexual images – being pressured to share images, have shared one and regret it or are worried about someone else. |
Online harm – cyberbullying, grooming, scams, exposure to harmful content. |
Family breakdown – Dealing with family issues, not having family to depend on or having a parent in prison. |
Living in care or leaving care – Finding it tough to live on your own or having trouble with money or getting support. |
Concerns about someone else – if you're worried about a friend, classmate or family member. |
Caring responsibilities – Balancing college with taking care of someone else. |

Speak Up, Speak Out: Tackling harassment, abuse and sexual misconduct
We have a zero-tolerance approach to sexual misconduct, bullying, harassment and hate crime. Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected.
We’re part of Operation Encompass, a partnership with police and safeguarding agencies that helps us support students who have experienced domestic abuse, ensuring affected students get the right support.
