Important information: Bracknell and Wokingham College arrangements on Friday 23 October

Dear students,

We’re writing to let you know about some important changes to college on Friday 23 October, when Bracknell and Wokingham College will be hosting the AI Skills Summit: Connected Futures.

The college will be closed to most students on this day, unless you have been specifically told to attend.

What does this mean for you?

  • Directed study: Most students will be given work to complete independently from home instead of attending their usual lessons. Your teachers will provide further information about what you need to complete.
  • Alternative arrangements: Some students, including those who may need additional support, will have different arrangements in place. If this applies to you, your college team will contact you and your parents or carers directly.
  • Access to campus: You should not come into college on Friday 23 October unless you have been specifically asked to attend or have a pre-arranged reason to be on site.

What facilities will be available?

The AI Skills Summit is a large event that will use several areas of the college, including the sports hall, car park, refreshment areas and teaching spaces.

As a result, access to the college and its usual facilities will be limited, and many of our regular services will not be available.

Please also note that catering from Recharge will only be available by prior arrangement for those who are required to be on site.

Why is the college hosting this event?

The AI Skills Summit is an exciting opportunity for Bracknell and Wokingham College to welcome businesses, education professionals and industry leaders to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) is changing the way we learn and work.

It also gives us the chance to showcase our college, our facilities and the important role we play in helping people develop the skills needed for the future.

We understand that these arrangements may be different from your usual college day, and we appreciate your understanding.

Please make sure you check any messages from your teachers or college team ahead of Friday 23 October, so you know what is expected of you.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Best wishes,

Ben Jokiel, Group Campus Director – Bracknell and Wokingham College
