This course is best suited for those who want to develop their knowledge and skills in sports and public services. You will cover a variety of subject areas including:
- Keeping Active and Healthy
- Responding to an Incident
- Assisting in a Sports Activity
- Contributing to your Community
You will also develop key skills in English, maths and ICT to develop your independence and employability. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to take part in trips and activities covering the range of public services, along with sports guest speakers and other services.
Throughout the year, there will be opportunities to undertake voluntary work and enhance your CV through project-based learning.
This is a Vocational Studies course that aims to prepare students for entry into public services. It consists of both practical and theoretical lessons and is highly disciplined in implementing how the services will be upon entry. You will learn through group work, peer assessment, individual tasks, and powerpoint presentations.
A variety of coursework-orientated assessment methods will be used (written assessments, observations, presentations and discussions being some) and you will gain a thorough understanding of the evidence they are expected to produce.
On successful completion of this course, you could progress on to the Public Services or Sport Level 2 Certificate, or enter employment
You need to have 4 GCSEs at Grade 2 or above including English Language and maths, with evidence of a keen interest in the subject.
