This course is designed to enable learners to understand the principles, practices and legislation for Initial Verification of new electrical installations. It covers statutory and non-statutory regulations and requirements, and the knowledge a learner needs to inspect, test and certify new electrical work.
The course prepares candidates to carry out Initial Verification and Certification of new electrical installation work, and the completion of an Electrical Installation Certificate, or Minor Electrical Works Installation Certificate as appropriate. It covers the theory and calculations required to verify test results for radial and ring final circuits, and guidance on the requirements of electrical installations.

How you'll learn and be assessed
The course is delivered over three days in the classroom by an experienced tutor and includes practical applications of inspection and testing.
The assessments are carried out on day four. There is a 90 minute, 40 question online multiple choice exam which is open book and invigilated. There is also a practical assessment.
Progression
This course allows candidates to progress into employment, or to the City & Guilds 2391-51 Level 3 Award in the Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations. Candidates can also progress to the City & Guilds Level 4 Award in the Design and Verification of Electrical Installation (2396).
Entry requirements
Before taking this course, entrants must have a Level 3 electrical qualification, an IET BS7671:2018+A2:2022 qualification, and suitable experience within the industry.
