If you like finding solutions to technical challenges, engineering could be your future. Skilled engineers are in demand; so much so that there is a major drive, nationally and locally, to encourage young people into the profession.

This programme will give you a broad introduction to Engineering. Follow our engineering pathway and you will get an excellent grounding in mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering to enable you to choose the career that’s right for you.

As part of your studies, you will have the opportunity to take part in employer-led, work-based projects, based on real-life scenarios, providing invaluable experience to supplement your studies.

This programme will enable you to develop your knowledge of engineering materials, design and processes, graphical communication including CAD and electrical principles.

This programme has been designed and developed as a stepping-stone to what you will cover on the Level 3 T Level in Engineering. You will have the opportunity to learn through technical knowledge and industry-relevant practical skills.

At the end of the programme, you will be able to demonstrate all the following outcomes:

  • proposing design solutions to meet specifications
  • applying practical skills to produce engineered products
  • solving problems with innovative engineering ideas

You will achieve these outcomes by studying the following topics:

  • Investigating an Engineered Product
  • Mathematics for Engineering
  • Electrical and Mechanical Science for Engineering
  • Interpreting and Using Engineering Information

Formal assessment will be carried out through assignments, projects, presentations, and practical tests, which are set at regular intervals throughout the course. Assignments will be graded according to pass, merit or distinction.

Upon successful completion of the Level 2 programme, you will be able to progress onto Level 3 programme. Our Level 3 students have recently benefited from curriculum sponsorship from the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME), including a work-based project, guest lecturing and regional competitions.

4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English. Maths GCSE must be at grade 4 or above.
