Follow our engineering pathway and you will get an excellent grounding in mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering to enable you to choose the career that’s right for you. If you like finding solutions to technical challenges, engineering could be your future. Skilled engineers are in demand; so much so that there is a major drive, nationally and locally, to encourage young people into the profession.

As part of your studies, you will have the opportunity to take part in employer-led, work-based projects, based on real-life scenarios, providing invaluable experience to supplement your studies.

This programme will enable you to develop your knowledge of engineering materials, design and processes, graphical communication including CAD, and electrical and electronic principles.

Upon successful completion of the Level 2 programme, you will be able to progress on to the Level 3 programme at Bracknell and Wokingham College. Our Level 3 students have recently benefitted from curriculum sponsorship from the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME), including a work-based project, guest lecturing and regional competitions.

This programme has been developed to give learners the skills and expertise needed to enter employment in the mechanical/electrical engineering sector or to progress to higher education. You will study core units covering engineering working practices, using engineering information, maths for technicians, and electrical and mechanical science for engineering purposes.

You also have the chance to specialise in additional areas and develop your English, maths and ICT skills, which are essential for successful performance in your working life.

A BTEC Level 2 Diploma is equivalent to four GCSEs at Grades 9–4 (A*–C) and will help you explore a range of careers within the engineering industry.

Your learning will involve a combination of theory and principles with hands-on experience within real work situations.

You will learn from experienced staff and develop your skills in a creative and enjoyable way.

Formal assessment is through assignments, projects, presentations and practical assessments, which are set at regular intervals throughout the course.

Four GCSEs at grades 3 (D) or above in English language, maths and science or achievement on a Level 1 course.
You must demonstrate self-motivation and a keen interest in the subject area.
