This course has been designed in collaboration with employers. It uses a mixture of classroom and work-based learning to give you the technical skills and workplace experience to lead you onto a digital career.
The T Level in Digital Business Services is a two-year, Level 3 qualification that is equivalent to three A Levels. The course will prepare you for various careers in the digital business sector, such as a Data Technician, Data Analyst, and more. On completion, you will have the knowledge, experience, and skills necessary to progress directly to an apprenticeship, higher education, or employment within digital business sectors.
T-levels combine classroom theory, practical learning and a minimum of 315 hours of industry placement with an employer. The programmes are developed in collaboration with employers so that the content meets the needs of the industry and prepares students for work.
Your industry placement allows you to learn what a real career is like while you continue your studies. Like A levels, there are no tuition fees to study a T-level if you start before you are 19.

You will study:
Ethical and moral implications of digital technology
- Using data in software design
- Using digital technologies to analyse and solve problems
- Digital environments, including physical, virtual and cloud environments
- Legal and regulatory obligations relating to digital technologies
- Privacy of personal data
- Technical, physical and aspects of internet security
- Planning digital projects
- Testing software, hardware & data
- Digital tools for project management
How you'll learn and be assessed
You’ll spend 80% of your time in the classroom and 20% on a 45-day placement with an employer, to give you the skills and knowledge companies seek.
The core knowledge and understanding will be assessed through an examination, and core skills will be assessed through a practical employer-set project.

Progression
This qualification is intended to carry UCAS points and is recognised by HE providers as contributing to the admission requirements to many relevant courses.
At the end of the Technical Qualification, students are expected to demonstrate threshold competence, which means that they have gained the core knowledge and skills related to digital business services and are developing further skills to work as data technicians or data analysts within digital and business environments.
Entry requirements
You will need 5 GCSEs/International GCSEs at a minimum of grade 5 or above, including English language, maths and/or Vocational Tech Award qualification(s) at Level 2 at Merit and above in a relevant subject, e.g. BTEC Tech Award in Digital Information Technology.
You should also have enthusiasm and a keen interest in the subject.
