This City & Guilds course is designed to support the professional development of competent electricians interested in understanding how to design and install the range of electric vehicle supply equipment and systems.
The qualification aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the requirements related to the design, installation and maintenance of electric vehicle supply equipment, and associated circuits.
How you'll learn and be assessed
The course is delivered over three days in the classroom by an experienced tutor, and includes practical applications of inspection and testing.
The assessments are carried out on day three.
There is a 60 minute, 30 question online multiple choice exam which is open book and invigilated.
Progression
This course allows candidates to progress within employment. Candidates can also progress to the City & Guilds Level 4 Award in the Design and Verification of Electrical Installation (2396).
The IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation, 5th Edition will form the basis of this course. Candidates who do not hold a copy will be supplied with one for the duration of the course.
Entry requirements
Entrants must have a Level 3 electrical qualification, such as a C&G 2365 or 5357 or similar and a IET BS7671:2018+A2:2022 qualification. Entrants must be aged 18 or over.
Please bring along current copies of IET On-Site Guide to BS7671; IET BS7671:2018+A2:2022, Requirements for Electrical Installations, IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition.
A calculator, notepad and pens would also be useful.
