BSc (Hons) Kingston: Wildlife Rehabilitation (Top-up)

This programme will help you to develop knowledge and skills that are essential for treating and caring for sick, injured or orphaned wild animals, preparing them for successful release back into the wild.

You will develop clinical, behavioural and ecological expertise through research, surveying and data collection, and will apply knowledge to real scenarios. You will be given fieldwork opportunities both on site and with other wildlife rehabilitation centres, both in the UK and abroad (optional).

Additional costs include: Optional trips e.g South Africa, Borneo, Jersey depending on your chosen Research Project, which will include costs of travel and accommodation. Additional printing over and above the £10 allowance provided by the college, cost of books that you might wish to purchase. We strongly recommend purchasing a laptop for your course

On successful completion students will be able to:

Throughout the course you will be able to research chosen topics and species of interest for your assessments enabling you to focus on subject areas that you wish to specialise in, and link to career aspirations. Each module will be assessed with 2-3 pieces of work. These could include academic poster creation, conference style presentations, written exams, reports, seminars, media article design, portfolios, video productions, case studies and a dissertation.

Academic skills support is available throughout the year to help you prepare for this range of assessments, including exam preparation.

On successful completion students are able to progress in to a range of employment opportunities linked to the rehabilitation of wildlife and conservation. Alternatively they can progress their studies with a Masters degree in a range of specialist areas or apply for membership of professional bodies including the Zoological Society of London, Institute of Biology or the British Ecological Society and attend further courses.

This programme can lead to careers within wildlife conservation and protection in roles such as Wildlife Rehabilitator or Wildlife Biologist.

You will need to have completed a relevant FdSc which may include but not be limited to the FdSc in Wildlife and Conservation or the FdSc in Animal Behaviour and Welfare.

You are advised to ensure that anti-tetanus protection via a course of injections or booster is up to date prior to the commencement of the course. You should also ensure that you have adequate clothing for outdoor work in inclement weather. Fees shown are per year.
