We hope that you’re enjoying the break and taking time to relax and recharge away from college. It’s been a busy year so far and we know there’s a lot going on in right now.
With that in mind, we wanted to make sure you have everything you need to pick up where you left off in the new year and that you feel supported while away from college and on your return.
Exams in January
There are going to be lots of exams happening in January, so we hope everyone is feeling prepared and ready for these.
The Exams Team should have sent details to everyone who is due to sit an exam through the post. If you haven’t received this, but are expecting to do an exam in January, then speak to your tutor who will be able to give you the details you need.
For those of you possibly looking to do some more prep over the break, here are some resources we’ve created to help everyone and we also have this great resource that looks at exam stress.
We know that for some of you it might be the first exams you’ve sat since joining college and they might look and feel different to what you’ve been used to. We’ve made a short video to help prep you and give you an idea of what to expect.

Looking after yourself over the break and getting support
This is a time of year where people can struggle with things, and this year more than ever there are things that are weighing on people’s minds.
We know everyone’s having to readjust to life after the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis is causing a lot of anxiety for everyone and that more people than ever are struggling with their mental health.
Or it might be that you’re worried about your course and aren’t sure whether on the right programme.
With college closed over the Christmas break between 20 December and 4 January, we’ve pulled together a list of organisations that will be available to support you.
Though once the new term starts again, there will be support for you at college and someone you can speak to. The Safeguarding Team will be available in person, via email safe@activatelearning.ac.uk or by calling 01865 550401.
Things to look forward to in the New Year
We really want to create busy, vibrant communities on campus and a big part of this are the things we do outside of our classes. This year we’ve launched a number of groups and clubs at college, and these will be continuing into the new year. Here’s list of the events taking place at your college.
We are always keen to hear ideas for other groups or activities that we can run at college, so if you have any ideas, then please speak to your Head of Campus – Student Experience!
We hope that you’re having a great break and a Happy New Year we can’t wait to see you back in college from 4 January!
